Evacuation Protocols
Cecil G. Stokes Jr.
The general rule is always "When the siren sounds you need to find an exit and get out. But, don't use the elevators," When it comes to mobility-challenged residents on upper floors this presents a challenge. There are differing opinions on the best response to this challenge in a sprinkler-equipped building. On behalf of our Safety Committee I would like  to establish contact with others concerned about this.

If the fire alarm sounds, the policy at Charlestown is to shelter in place. If an evacuation becomes necessary, the fire department or management representative will notify us. We have aSwift Reach 911  phone and text system for notification.
