The privately-held, for-profit owner/operator of a continuing care community with assisted living and memory care services acquired another community nearby that did not offer those services. Should the current residents of the first community have higher priority for access to assisted living and memory care openings than the residents of the acquired community? Or should the two resident groups be treated equally after acquisition? Is anyone aware of continuing care communities in which access to assisted living and memory care openings is prioritized for residents needing these care levels, and if so, how is the prioritization done?
